The United African Organization (UAO) is a dynamic coalition of African community-based organizations that promotes social and economic justice, civic participation, and empowerment of African immigrants and refugees in Illinois. UAO engages in public policy advocacy, direct service, community education, as well as coalition-building to strengthen our movement to end racism, criminalization and economic disenfranchisement of Black immigrants and refugees.

Immigration Case Worker

POSITION SUMMARY

The UAO is seeking a dynamic professional Immigration Case Worker (ICW) to join its immigration team  to provide administrative and case management assistance. As an excellent networker and convener, the ICW will bring strategic, creative and critical thinking to the work with our community members, partner organizations and allies.

Case Worker – Family Support

POSITION SUMMARY

The Case Worker in the Family Support Services program will work to extend the reach of UAO programs throughout the African immigrant and refugee communities in Illinois. S/he will design and prepare materials, educate the community, identify current needs and trends, and ensure that our cultures do not serve as barriers preventing individuals and families from participation in public benefit programs. This is a full-time position.

Finance/Admin Officer

POSITION SUMMARY

The UAO is seeking a dynamic Finance/Admin Officer who will be a strategic thought-partner and report to the Executive Director (ED). The successful candidate will be a hands-on participative manager and support the following areas: finance, planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT.

Organizer & Policy Director

POSITION SUMMARY
UAO is seeking a creative and relational individual to spearhead the design and management of its public policy strategies on issues impacting African immigrants and refugees, to engage its membership in campaigns, and to oversee the development and execution of its agenda and priorities. In this role, you will deepen the involvement of UAO’s members in its campaigns, help plan our advocacy agenda in conjunction with other programs and policy departments, and ensure that member organizations have opportunities to engage and develop their leaders within
campaigns.

Training & Membership Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
UAO is seeking a dynamic professional with program operations experience to design and manage training for our leaders and members from diverse African communities. We are growing our leaders across the State to help build a more just and inclusive society for Black immigrants and refugees. We connect and engage emerging leaders, advocates and navigators in collective dialogue and skill-building. You will design an exciting curriculum around an array of topics, support the implementation of our leadership programs, work on the frontlines of participant engagement, manage program operations, and directly facilitate the learning experience.
